Poker Tournament Events

A tournament is a different thing from a poker table at a party. It has a field, a progression, and one winner at the end, and that structure is what makes it work as an event in its own right. Just Like Vegas supplies the tables, the dealers, and the crew to run it. We specialise in Texas Hold'em tournaments from small private fields to large charity events.

The Difference

A Tournament Is an Event, Not a Table

People often start by asking for a poker table and discover part-way through planning that what they actually want is a tournament. The two are worth separating, because they ask different things of the room.

Poker tables at a casino night

One table among several. Guests drift in and out, play a few hands, and move on to roulette or the bar. There is no ending to build towards, and that is entirely the point.

A poker tournament

Everyone starts together, the field narrows, and the evening builds to a final table and a winner to announce. It gives your event a spine, which is why it works so well for fundraisers and company events that need a moment at the end.

Planning Decisions

What to Settle Before the Date

Tournament formats vary a great deal, and the right one depends on your field size and how long you want to be there. Rather than prescribe a structure, we work it out with you. These are the decisions worth arriving with.

  1. 1

How many players you are expecting

Everything else follows from this. Tables seat up to nine, so the count sets your table number, your dealer count, and how much floor you need. It is worth pinning down before you choose a venue rather than after.

  2. 2

How long the evening should run

A tournament has to finish, ideally while people still want to be there. Standard service is three hours, covering two hours and forty-five minutes of play plus fifteen minutes for chip cash-out and dealer reset. Tell us the window you want and we will talk through what shape of tournament fits it.

  3. 3

    Whether you want side tables

The difference between a room that stays full and a room that empties by the second hour. Blackjack or roulette running alongside gives knocked-out players somewhere to go.

  4. 4

    What the winner receives

Prizes come from the host, which keeps them meaningful to your group. A trophy, an experience, or something tied to the occasion tends to land better than a generic gift.

  5. 5

    Where the announcement happens

If the tournament is part of a larger event, decide early where the winner gets announced. A PA system with microphones is available as an add-on if your venue does not have one.

The Equipment

What We Bring

Tournaments run on our professional poker tables, the same casino-grade equipment we use for everything else.

  • Professional poker tables, 8' x 4', seating up to nine players each
  • Premium speed felt surface and padded armrests
  • Blind software for tournaments, plus dealer button and blinds
  • Professional plastic playing cards and casino-quality chips
  • A uniformed professional dealer at every table
  • Delivery, setup, and teardown handled by our crew, outside your gaming hours

Promotional media tablets at the tables and LED uplighting are standard on our casino floors. For the full game and table specification, see the Texas Hold'em page.

Who Runs Them

Tournaments by Occasion

Charity and fundraising

The most established use of the format. A tournament gives a fundraiser a clear arc and a natural moment to announce a winner, and it sells to a group who would not buy a ticket to a seated gala.

Casino night fundraisers

Corporate and client events

Competitive without being exclusionary, and it produces a winner you can put on stage. Works as the whole evening or as a bracket running alongside a wider casino floor.

Corporate casino parties

Private and milestone events

Birthday tournaments, annual games between friends, and bachelor parties, where the field already knows each other and the bragging rights are the prize.

Casino birthday parties

Venue and Service Area

Where We Can Run It

Tournaments take more floor than a casino night, because tables need space around them for players and for dealers to work. Your venue needs a loading dock or ramp with clearance for a 16 foot box truck or trailer, and a service elevator at least eight feet wide or deep if the room is not on the first floor. We run tournaments across San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi.

OUR HAPPY CUSTOMERS

Tournament Questions

Poker Tournament FAQ

How is this different from just renting a poker table?
A poker table rental gives your guests somewhere to play. A tournament is a structured event with a start, a progression, and a single winner at the end, which changes how you plan the room and the evening. If you want the table itself, the equipment and game details are on our Texas Hold'em page. If you want an event built around the tournament, this is that.
How many tables do we need for our player count?
Our professional poker tables seat up to nine players each, so player count divided by nine is your starting point, rounded up. Bookings start at three game tables and three hours of billing time. Tell us how many players you expect and whether you want side tables running alongside, and we will map the floor out with you.
What happens to players who bust out early?
This is the single most useful thing to plan for, and the one most first-time organisers miss. In any tournament, some people are out early, and without somewhere to go they leave. The usual fix is a few side tables, blackjack or roulette, running alongside the tournament so knocked-out players stay at the event rather than heading home.
Do you supply dealers, or do we need our own?
We supply them. Every table is staffed by a uniformed professional dealer who runs the game, manages the deal, and keeps play moving, which matters more in a tournament than in casual play because the pace of the room determines when you finish. Our dealers are also patient with less experienced players.
Can you handle the blinds and tournament clock?
Our professional poker tables include blind software for tournaments, along with a dealer button and blinds. The specific structure you want, how long levels run and how the tournament progresses, is a conversation to have with your consultant during planning, since it depends on how many players you have and how long you want the event to last.
Is real money involved?
No. Guests play with casino-quality chips that carry no cash value, no real money is wagered, and nothing is paid out in cash. That is what keeps the event entertainment rather than gambling under Texas law. Prizes for the winner are typically supplied by the host, and for fundraising events organisations should confirm any requirements that apply to them with their own counsel.
